If you haven't attended a Luau, you should! Yes, they are a bit corny, and they certainly no longer represent an authentic Hawaiian feast and celebration, however they are good entertainment. The food and drink at a commercially-run luau can be mediocre, but the hula dancing can be quite spectacular and beautiful.

The Luau we attended was held at the King Kameheamehea's Kona Beach Hotel, which is located on the point of land off Kailua Bay, right in Kailua-Kona town. We decided to join the luau after dinner, and just go for the after dinner drink and the show. The dancers were very good, and the fire dancer certainly added some drama to the show. One half crazed dancer even went amok through the audience!
